Day 1- Swing Speed Secrets- Free Training

I added 80+ yards to my drives

Here's how I did it...

I wanted to show you how I broke through a swing speed plateau, and added over 80 yards to my own drives.

(At the time, my drives were already averaging around 330 yards, which I then increased to around the 410 yard mark at my peak.)

The goal here is to both motivate you by showing you that such a huge increase in speed and distance is absolutely possible...

Even if you already have some decent speed and distance like I did...

AND present you with the exact strategy I used to gain it.

Here's how it started...

I can't believe it's been over 2 decades now because seems like just yesterday...

Coming out of the 90s, I had witnessed how valuable power and distance was to scoring thanks to golfers like Tiger and Daly.

It was clear how having wedges into par 5s for your second shot, for example, would lower your scoring average in a hurry.

As an up and coming golfer, I had to have that!

So I found a very- let's call it primitive- golf workout routine to add some swing speed and went to work.

I also purchased several training aids that promised easy speed gains.

Anything that would help turn me into a monster off the tee.

After applying everything I had learned, I actually added some pretty solid distance to my drives.

So much so that I decided to enter the Re/Max World Long Drive Championship to really "show the world what I could do."

After all, I was a complete powerhouse freak of a swinger now...

Or so I had thought!

You had to be the top 128 out of around 18,000 hopefuls trying out at the time to make it to the "Big Show", just a little north of Las Vegas.

The last stop before then was the Texas Regional Qualifier, and I was ready to dominate.

What happened next was I proceeded to lose 2 back to back rounds in a double elimination, bracket style format...

After having tied for dead last, this "powerhouse freak" was sent packing.

At the time I was averaging around 330 yards, and could max out around 350... Sometimes even creeping into the 370s if there was a good tailwind.

But this proved to be nothing compared to the 400 yard BOMBS I witnessed first hand, over and over at that Regional.

I wasn't even close, and was understandably devastated...

But this story gets even worse...

I was so far off that I wondered if I should just give up that pursuit altogether.

But not because guys in their 20s and 30s had crushed it by me...

No, even guys in their 50s and 60s were bombing it 380+...

Again, well past me at the time!

And many of which were totally normal looking guys.

No huge muscles.

No veins popping out of their necks and arms.

Still blowing it by me.

What was the deal?

I didn't understand it.

My swing mechanics back then were pretty on point...

But just in case, I had one of the highest level golf instructors in the world at the time take a look at my swing.

He had coached both PGA pros and even a recent World Long Drive Champion.

He said he wouldn't change much in my swing if any, and confirmed I already made about as big of a shoulder turn as humanly possible.

That was great news... Or was it? Then how come the ball wasn't going any dang farther?!

After that assessment, it was pretty clear I wasn't going to make huge strides in distance there.

Next stop, equipment!

Well, I had already bought several of those "super" drivers...

You know the ones...

They've got the loft of a putter, and a shaft as long and stiff as a telephone pole.

I even learned some "TOP SECRET" equipment hacks from the elite of the sport.

They taught me secrets like how you can get more energy out of a shaft, and higher ball speeds by understanding one simple principle..

It turns out that tipping a shaft is the worst thing a golfer in search of more power can do.

You see, if you have two identical shafts that have the exact same stiffness, but one was tipped to get to that stiffness while the other already came that stiff from the manufacturer...

Then the shaft that wasn't tipped will have more usable energy, more snap.

Therefore, you will have higher ball speeds with the untipped shaft...

AND the same accuracy for any given swing because its the exact same flex!

Another crazy "hush hush" secret I learned about was hot melting a driver head...

Both long drivers and PGA pros take advantage of this method...

You see, long drivers will find a driver head that weighs in a little lighter than standard.

Then they will put hot melt in the head (think of a glue gun basically), and move it around in the head until it is back and at the bottom of the sole.

Then they let it cool off and harden in that position.

At the end of the process, they have brought the total weight of the head back up to where it should be, BUT have manipulated the center of gravity and perimeter weighting.

By adding the weight low and back internally in the head, they achieve a higher launch angle, lower backspin and even a higher smash factor!

There's one more crazy benefit...

It reduces side spin, too!

That's why some long drivers actually hit it remarkably straight given their crazy speed, while others can't find the fairway to save their life.

See, I had already learned and applied all of those equipment tweaks (which costs thousands)...

So it stood to reason at that point that further changing equipment wasn't going to do a whole lot to get me the distance gains I was seeking.

So the only thing left that could possibly have a major impact on my driving distance was the type of training I was doing...

I had already done that golf specific workout I mentioned earlier, and it had yielded some positive results.

But then I quickly hit a plateau, and stopped making any more progress whatsoever.

So I thought, "OK, let's double down on the workouts..."

To my surprise, still no more results. Not even a little bit more!

Was that it? ...Had I reached my full potential? Did I not have enough "natural ability"? ...Had I peaked?

...Maybe I just didn't have "it", and "it" seemed further and further away from being realistically possible.

I had no idea what to do...

After I stopped thinking all doom and gloom, I finally took a moment to "step back", so to speak, and get a bigger picture on what was actually needed to improve my swing speed and distance.

I was determined to find a way to do it.

There had to be one!

It wasn't until several weeks later that I finally discovered what needed to be adjusted in my training.

(I'll explain that part of the story tomorrow instead of making this email waaay too long)

If you have tried speed training and/or golf specific workouts in the past, but the progress you made with them suddenly came to a halt...

Or if you've just struggled making any kind of swing speed or distance progress in general...

Tomorrow's email will explain why... And show you how to fix it.

You can literally have the best swing in the history of golf...

The best equipment...

The best swing coach...

And the best practice facility...

But there's really only one thing that matters for more distance... SWING SPEED.

That comes from directly training for it.

But you will eventually hit a plateau with even the best workouts because your body gets used to them.

And without knowing how to break through these plateaus every single time, there's literally ZERO CHANCE of becoming a significantly longer player.

Your time spent = wasted.

I had to learn that the long, hard way... And it even almost cost me my dream career.

Tomorrow I'll show you how to avoid that same devastating mistake.

See you then...
